Jim Macklyn Fowler, age 80 of White Cloud, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 28, 2021 in White Cloud. Jim was born in Syracuse, New York and adopted by Robert B. and Eleanor M. (Powell) Fowler. Jim served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge and he started a musical tour then led him to Canada and then back to Grand Rapids and then White Cloud area. Jim had been a Court Officer at the 61st District Court in Grand Rapids until his retirement at the age of 65 but then continued to serve as a Legal Paper Server for several years as well. Jim' true passion in life however was being a musician which he started early in his life and continued until his passing. He had toured in Canada and the United States and played with various bands playing the guitar, bass guitar and steel guitar. He had been inducted into the Michigan Country Music Hall of Fame and had been awarded the Living Legend Award. Jim also enjoyed hunting and fishing; camping during the summer months where he would usually play a weekend performance at the campground he was staying at every weekend during the summer.
Jim is survived by his significant other, Georgia "Jodi" Burns of White Cloud; his daughters and grandchildren – daughter, Cindy (Terry) Rabideau Jr. of Byron Center and their children, Jenna Rabideau, Camron Rabideau, and Macklyn James Rabideau; his daughter, Jaime (Tom) Waldner of Grandville and their children, Kacy Waldner, Kristen Waldner, Logan Kelly, Connor Kelly, Faith Kelly. Jim was preceded in death by his sister and his brother.
VISITATION : Thursday, February 18, 2021 from 1-3pm at Crandell Funeral Home – White Cloud Chapel 1109 Court Street White Cloud MI 49349. FUNERAL SERVICES : Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 3pm at the Crandell Funeral Home – White Cloud Chapel. A larger CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE will be held at the end of June 2021 as well. INTERMENT : Big Prairie Everett Township Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : To the White Cloud Soup Kitchen for the Veterans Fall Dinner, c/o Crandell Funeral Home (checks payable to Crandell Funeral Home) in memory of Jim. NOTE : during the visitation, a limited number of people will be permitted into the funeral home and friends will need to rotate in and out of the funeral home during the visitation with face coverings being required. Family members and friends not able to attend the services may watch the funeral services via Zoom and will need to contact the funeral home for the Zoom link information prior to the services. Friends may choose to listen to the Jim funeral services via radio broadcasting on their car radios in the funeral home parking lot on the day of the services by tuning their radios to 99.9 starting 5 minutes prior to the services starting.
