James Paul Mansfield, age 78, of Fremont passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2019, at his home. Jim was born on May 15, 1941, in Fremont to Donn and Pauline Mansfield Grant and married Virginia Burns on April 29, 1967, in Fremont. Jim retired from the Management information Services Department at Gerber Products Company after 30 years and proudly served in the United States Army during Vietnam. Jim enjoyed camping, traveling, had enjoyed playing golf, and spending winters in Orange Beach, Alabama. He was a member of the Fremont Moose Lodge #1555, and the Holton American Legion #397.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Ginny; children, Amy Mansfield of Kentwood and Lisa (Don) Cole of Barryton; grandchildren, Blake Koning, Brooke Koning, Kendall Boone, Sage Cole, and Samuel Cole; brothers and sisters, Jerry Mansfield of Fremont, Jack (Marianne) Mansfield of Utah, and Judith (Robert) Wildfong of Fremont. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donn and Pauline and sister-in-law, Lydea Mansfield.
Visitation for Jim will be from 6 – 8 PM on Sunday, December 8, 2019, and from 1 – 2 PM on Monday (prior to the service) at the Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont. A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held on Monday at 2 PM at the funeral home with Chaplain Dan Pflug officiating. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
