Pickett, James M. James M. Pickett, age 69 of Fremont, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at his home following a short illness. Jim was born on August 19, 1937 in North Carolina to James Gloffus and Edna Virginia (Barnard) Pickett and later moved to the Pontiac, Michigan area where he graduated from Waterford Township Schools. He later met and married Sandy Patton on August 23, 1957 in Drayton Plains, Michigan. Jim has been a resident of the Fremont area since 1962 where he had been the Fremont Airport Maintenance Supervisor for Gerber Products until his retirement. He was a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church where he was active in the Fremont United Methodist Mens Group and the Fremont United Methodist Church Ramp Building Group. Jim had also been active in Habitat for Humanity in Newaygo County. Jim is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sandy of Fremont; his mother, Jenny Clouse of Andrews, North Carolina; his sons, James L. (Cathy Ferguson) Pickett of Ionia, MI; Jeffrey A. (Tina) Pickett of North Fort Myers, Florida; John E. (Rose) Pickett of Ocala, Florida; daughter-in-law, Cindy Lee Adkins of Cape Coral, Florida; his grandchildren, Jane (Jason) Jedlick of Cape Coral, Florida; James R. Pickett of North Fort Myers; Florida; Shantel Tinger of Pine Island, Florida; Adam J. Tinger of Pine Island, Florida; James N. Forrest Pickett V of Ionia; Allen M. Pickett of Ionia; his great grandson, Avery James Jedlick of Cape Coral, Florida; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Sunday, December 10, 2006 from the Fremont United Methodist Church. Friends may consider the Fremont United Methodist Church Ramp Fund or Habitat for Humanity Building Fund for memorial contributions in memory of Jim.
