James E. Pratt, age 85, of Fremont passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at his home. Jim was born on March 8, 1926, in South Haven, to Alfred E. and Gladys (Calkins) Pratt and was an industrial electrician in the Muskegon area, most recently at Howmet. Jim proudly served in the Army and then as a Sergeant in the Air Force. Jim married Theda Reed on August 5, 1950, and preceded him in death on February 1, 1984. He later married Gwen Ellen Kesler Goins on June 8, 1985, in Fremont. He was a member of the IBEW #275 in Muskegon. Jim was an active member of the Fremont United Methodist Church and Habitat for Humanity of Newaygo County. Jim is survived by his wife, Gwen; children, Sandra M. Pratt of Ann Arbor, Donna J. (Jack) Truckle of Montana, and Diane K. Cleland of Hardy Dam; step-children, Emily A. (Frank) Smokrovic of Australia, Allison N. (Jeff) Ash of California, and Joshua A. (Rebecca) Goins of Alabama; 7 grandchildren, Jackson Truckle, Jim Truckle, Sarah Gilman, Alexander Pratt, Benjamin Smokrovic, Alec Smokrovic, and Ellie Ash; half-brother, John Ford of Ann Arbor and sister-in-law, Rita Pratt. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sister, Alfred Pratt, Robert Pratt, and Mary Souris. There will be a time to celebrate Jims life held on Sunday, August 21, 2011, at the Fremont United Methodist Church. Visitation will start at 3 PM, followed by a memorial service at 4:30 PM.
