James S. Sutton, age 82 of Twin Lake, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at his home. James was born on March 21, 1933 in Bristol, Michigan to James Frank and Millie (Sayer) Sutton and later married Virginia Mae Gilland on September 12, 1958 in Bristol, Michigan. James served in the Michigan National Guard and later joined the United States Navy where he served during the Korean War. James had worked at Sealed Power in Muskegon for many years in the janitorial department until his retirement in 1989 after 20 years. James had served as a volunteer firefighter at the Dalton Township Station #1 and enjoyed camping, hunting, and spending time with his family. James is survived by his wife, Virginia of Twin Lake; his children, Sherri (Arthur) Sokolowski of Montague; James (Marcy) Sutton of Twin Lake; Russell (Bobbie-Faye) Sutton of Dalton; Steven (Ashley) Sutton of Twin Lake; Crindia (Lewis) Sokolowski of Walkerville; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his mother, Millie Davis; his father, James Frank Sutton; brothers, Albert Sutton, Marvis Sutton; his sisters, Evelyn Livingston, Fannie Giddings Audrey Nash; his grandson, Josiah Steven Jo-Jo Sutton and his great grandson, Josiah Steven Sutton. VISITATION : Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from 12-1pm at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel (7193 W. 48th Street Fremont MI 49412) MEMORIAL SERVICES : Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 1pm at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel with military rites to follow.
