Jamie Pion-Ritter, age 62 of White Cloud, formerly of Kalamazoo, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Munson Hospital in Cadillac following a long decline in her health. Jamie was born on April 21, 1960 in Kalamazoo to James T. and Norma L. (Simmons) Pion and grew up in the Kalamazoo area. Jamie had worked as a secretary, done personal taxes, worked as a security guard at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo and been a cashier at Meijer prior to her retirement. Jamie met and later married Barton Ritter on October 7, 1987 in Kalamazoo and they moved to the White Cloud area on a permanent basis from Kalamazoo and Arizona in 2013. Jamie was an animal lover and enjoyed being in nature and lighthouses. Jamie is survived by her husband, Barton of White Cloud; her "adopted daughter" Amber (Mike) Baker of Detroit and Amber's 3 children – Evan, Alex and Eliza; several nieces and nephews. Jamie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Norma Pion; her sisters, Nancy Pion in 1959, Annette Hammond in 2012; Linda Hammond in 2015 and Winona Pion in 2007. Following Jamie's wishes, cremation has taken place and burial will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Kalamazoo with private services at the cemetery.
