Jan R. Pfishner, age 57 of Newaygo, passed away Saturday, January 07, 2012 at her home following a short illness. Jan was born on December 6, 1954 in Grand Rapids to Chester and Jackie (Schmiedeknecht) Pfishner and has been a lifelong resident of the Newaygo area. Jan had worked at White Cloud High School in the janitorial department and also at Millers Resort on Robinson Lake for many years. Jan enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, crafts dancing, traveling to the Upper Peninsula, her dog Keisha and was known as being a spunky woman. Jan especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Jan is survived by her children, Kit Cook of Newaygo; Shawn (Rachael) Cook of Newaygo; Shannon (Troy) McKerchie of Newaygo; her grandchildren, McKenna, Madison, Lexi, Alex, Brittny; her parents, Chet and Jacki Pfishner of Newaygo; her former husband, John (Vicki) Cook of Newaygo; her sisters and brothers, Diane (Dan) Nelson of White Cloud; Chet (Joni) Pfishner of Eklhart, Indiana; Robin Cook of Newaygo; Kim (Craig) Goins of White Cloud; Rocky Pfishner of Newaygo; several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 12pm at the Reeman Christian Reformed Church in Fremont with a time of visitation from 10-12 at the church with Pastor Les VanDyke and Pastor Nate Kooistra presiding with interment in the Upper Peninsula.
