Janet Sue Dummer, age 72 of Canadian Lakes, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015 at the Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital following a short illness. Janet was born on June 21, 1942 in Detroit to George and Helen (Basik) Szor. Janet graduated from Southwestern High School where she was known to her friends as Zorro Janet was active in the student life as homeroom president, Latin Club, involved with yearbook staff as a reporter and editor to just name a few activities. After her graduation in June 1960, Janet began work at AAA of Michigan Headquarters in Detroit where she was a accounting supervisor. It was at AAA where she met Gerald Dummer and they were married on November 9, 1968 in Sterling Heights. After Geralds retirement, they moved to the Canadian Lakes development in mid-Michigan. Janet had been a dedicated wife and mother of three children and also enjoyed gardening, walking, and playing cards. Janet was an active member of the local Red Hat Group, The Purple Passionettes and greatly enjoyed the company and activities of her fellow members. Janet is survived by her husband, Gerald; her daughters, Catherine (Mark) McRae of New Orleans; Louisiana; Adrienne Dummer of Troy; her son, Eric (Kellie) Dummer of Livonia; grandchildren, Austin & Ashlyn McRae; Colby & Paige Dummer; her sister, Carol (Frank) Tarrant of Lincoln Park; her brother, George (Madeline) Szor of Dearborn. VISITATION : Friday, June 12, 2015 from 6-8pm with SCRIPTURE SERVICES at 7:30pm at the Crandell Funeral Home 7193 W 48th Street Fremont. FUNERAL MASS : Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 11am at the All Saints Catholic Church 500 Iroquois Fremont MI 49412. INTERMENT : Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS : please consider the American Cancer Society or Wounded Warrior Project.
