Janet Lea Hartranft, age 79 of White Cloud, formerly of Kalamazoo, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. Janet was born on August 7, 1934 in Kalamazoo to Douglas Wayne and Louise (Meyers) Wilson and later married Ed Hartranft in 1953 in Kalamazoo. Ed preceded her in death in 1967. Janet had been a self employed ceramics teacher in her home for many years in Portage and later worked as a Show and Tell service representative at Meijer and Sam's Club in the Kalamazoo area until her retirement. Janet enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and especially treasured the time spent with her grandchildren.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Denise (Charlie) Mench of Galesburg; her grandchildren, Doug & Mindy Mench of White Cloud; Mandy Mench of Galesburg; Carol Crawford of Climax; Christen & Dave Weaver of Arizona; great grandchildren, Myah Mench, Wyatt Mench, Savannah Mench, Asia Mench; Bryce Wolgast, Cassandra Smith, Cathy Smith, Hannah Cross, Quinton Weaver, Maxton Weaver; her great great grandson, Kayden.

Memorial services will be held in the spring at the Riverside Cemetery in Kalamazoo following cremation. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the Newaygo County Commission on Aging in memory of Janet.
