Janet Lee VanAgtmael, 92, of Fremont, entered into the presence of her dear Lord and Savior on Monday, April 13, 2026. She trusted in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and for the free gift of eternal life.
Janet was born June 12, 1933, the daughter of Elmer and Mildred Ortendahl. She married Neil VanAgtmael on June 13, 1953 and together they were blessed with 5 children and 65 years of marriage until his death in 2018.
Janet was a faithful follower of Jesus and wholeheartedly served His church as His humble steward and dedicated Christian educator. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and a past member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Janet enjoyed quilting, golfing, bowling and music. She knew all the words to many songs and hymns and often shared Bible verses. She was respected, kind to others, and generous. She loved dearly, and was dearly loved by God, her family, her friends, and her caregivers at The Cottages at Martin Lake.
Janet lived her confirmation verse, Genesis 15:1 “Fear not….I am thy shield and thy exceeding great reward.” Janet is with her beloved Savior, who is her Reward!
Janet is survived by: her children, David VanAgtmael, Linnea (Tommy) Weed, Kristine VanAgtmael, and Suzanne MacPherson; grandchildren, Erin (Brent), Jamie, Justin (Elizabeth), Brandon (Amanda), Sydney (Zach), Stephanie (Tim), Emily (Scott), Nathanael (Ashlee), and Philip; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Macie, Draven, Evan, Celeste, Milla, Halee, Hakeem, Isaac, Emma; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Carr; former daughter-in-law, Carole Comer; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by: her husband Neil; daughter, Sally; grandchildren, Erica, Chase, and Baylee; and brother-in-law, Robert Carr.
A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at Christ Lutheran Church 701 S Evergreen White Cloud. Interment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cottages at Martin Lake.
