Janice Joy Koning, age 78 of Newaygo, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, April 19, 2019 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont with her daughters by her side. Janice was born on May 24, 1940 in Grand Rapids to Ilo Ray and Velda Louise (Fetterhoff) Koning and grew up in the Grand Rapids area. Janice worked various jobs throughout her lifetime, at schools, nursing homes or wherever the Spirit led her at the time. Janice later moved to the Newaygo area where she enjoyed retirement. Janice enjoyed painting, listening to music, had babysat most of her grandchildren and she held strong to her faith serving God throughout her life. Janice is survived by her children, James Valdez of New Mexico and his children, Amanda Valdez and Cortona Valdez; Julie (Peter) VanBoxel Jr. of White Cloud and their children, Dylan VanBoxel and Peter VanBoxel III; Jana Valdez of New Mexico and her daughter, Madeline Stallworth; Jennifer (Richard) O'Bester of White Cloud and her children, Anita Dare, Ryan Dare and Jax O'Bester; her great grandchildren, Amiyah, Icker, and Gabriela; her brothers and sisters, Robert (Barbara) Koning; Christine Sund; Jerry (Jana) Koning; Jack Koning; David Koning; Sharon Swan; Ross Koning; many loved nieces and nephews. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Ilo and Velda Koning; her daughters, Mary Ann and Elizabeth; her sisters and brothers, Ray, Keith, Lois, Goerge and Irene.
