Obituary

Janice Elaine Casey age 76 from Fremont, Michigan passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025 at Corewell Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. Born May 20, 1948 she was the oldest child of Fred and Helen VandenBeldt. She resided in Newaygo, Michigan where Janice's father owned a small grocery store. Janice earned her Bachelors degree in Education from Central Michigan University before marrying Robert James Casey. In 1974, they welcomed their son Christopher who was their only child. She spent her career as a teacher in several different levels of education including community college and GED classes for incarcerated people at Ottawa County Jail. She tutored many others and loved helping others learn and grow. Janice's favorite bird was the cardinal and had collected many household decorations of them.

A longtime resident of Fremont, MI, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert James Casey, her parents Fred and Helen and her sister, Anne Ludwick. She is survived by her child, Christopher (Sara) Casey of Hudsonville, MI, her grandchildren, Kyle and Natalie, and her niece and nephew, Heather Johnson and John Ludwick.

Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont, MI at 1:00 pm. Visitation will take place prior to the funeral from 11:30am – 1:00pm at the funeral home.
