Jean Hodges, age 90 of White Cloud, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. Jean was born on September 28, 1921 in Battle Creek to Claude and Rose V. (Ziets) Lathrop and later married Frederick Hodges on June 24, 1939 in Detroit. Frederick preceded her in death on December 9, 1992. Jean moved to the White Cloud area in 1956 from Trenton and had been a nurses aid at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility for several years until her retirement. Jean was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in White Cloud and enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, watching the deer in her yard and especially enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren at her home and the family reunions when the family would gather at the family farm. Jean is survived by her children, Barbara (Howard) Shafer of White Cloud; Frederick Larry (Barbara) Hodges of Norfolk, Virginia; Ruth Green of Kingsley, Michigan; Richard (Linda) Hodges of White Cloud; 18 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 22 great great grandchildren; her brother, Robert (Shirley) Lathrop of Almont, Michigan; her sister, Sister Robertann of Mishawaka, Indiana; many nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her sons, James R. Hodges in 1984 and Robert H. Hodges in 2001; her grandson, Randy Green in 2011; 5 sisters and 2 brothers. VISITATION : Sunday, February 26, 2012 from 4-7pm at Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Monday, February 27, 2012 at 11am at the Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel.
