Jean G. Johnson, age 84 of White Cloud, passed away Friday, March 06, 2009 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. Jean was born on July 20, 1924 in Sublette, Illinois to Arthur and Fern (Miller) Purdy and later married Victor F. Johnson on July 20, 1946 in Downers Grove, Illinois. Victor preceded her in death on May 3, 1994. Jean moved to the White Cloud area in 1959 from Downers Grove and had been a secretary at the Marquette School in Muskegon for several years until her retirement. Jean had also worked for the Intermediate School District as a bus driver for the hearing impaired students of Newaygo County while they attended school in Muskegon and also drove for the Michigan Crippled Children Group to Grand Rapids. Jean also enjoyed needlework and sewing, attended the White Cloud United Methodist Church and had played the organ for several years at the church. Jean is survived by her daughters, Vicki (Robert) Burke of White Cloud; Wendy (Gary) Miller of White Cloud; Martha (Joe) Underhill of White Cloud; her grandchildren, Jon (Tricia) Burke; Traci Burke; Troy Underhill; Chad Underhill; Corey Miller; 2 great grandchildren, Rachel Burke and Andrew Burke; her sister, Joyce McMahan of San Jose, California. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ardene Hall. VISITATION : Sunday 1-3 at the White Cloud United Methodist Church. FUNERAL SERVICES : Sunday at 3pm at the White Cloud United Methodist Church.
