Gleason, Jerry A. Jerry Arnold Gleason, age 76 of White Cloud, with his wife and daughters by his side, crossed over to Heaven on Friday, February 16, 2007 after suffering a short time from pancreatic cancer. Jerry was born on March 23, 1930 along the banks of the Pere Marquette River, west of Bitely to Gerald and Loretta (Enderley). Jerry is a descendent of the Gleason brothers of Ohio who first settled in Beaver Township in the1850s and help found the Volney settlement. He grew up in the Hard Scrabble/Bitely area where he attended the Shaw School Jerry worked as a logger in his early years and then started work as a nailer at the Briggs Lumber Company in White Cloud in the mid 1950s until his retirement at the closing of the lumber mill in the 1990s. Jerry was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in White Cloud and enjoyed playing gospel music with local musicians at many of the communities nursing homes and gospel jamborees. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Jerry was always recognized for his ready smile and great sense of humor. He was loved by many younger people of the White Cloud area who looked up to him as a father figure in their lives.
