Jerry L. Miller, age 73 of Fremont, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at the Fountain View of Fremont following a battle with glioblastoma cancer. Jerry was born on December 7, 1946 in Dumont, Iowa to Robert Gene and Virginia Mae (Harrald) Miller and moved to Fremont at an early age. Jerry graduated from Fremont High School in 1965 and married his high school sweetheart, Helen Bouwsma on March 26, 1966 in Fremont. Jerry joined the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. He had been a journeyman/machinist for several companies and retired from Kaydon Corporation in 2005. Jerry was a member of the Fremont Congregational Church and enjoyed woodworking, Farmall Tractors, spending his winters in Florida. He was a member of the Holton American Legion Post #397, Fremont Moose Lodge #1555, and the White Cloud Eagles Aerie Post #4170. Jerry truly treasured the time he spent with his family and friends. Jerry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen of Holton; his daughters, Angela (Steve) Jenkins of Punta Gorda, Florida; Amanda (Devren) Beecham of Fremont; his grandchildren, Alicia (Tim) Nieuwkoop, Tyler Burns, Kylei Beecham, Hanna Beecham, and Jayden Beecham; his great grandson, Landyn Nieuwkoop; his sister, Judy (Sam) Church of Grant; his niece, Christine (Trent) DeBrot; his great niece, Stella DeBrot. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Miller and by his father, Robert Miller. A Celebration of Life Service for Jerry and his father Robert Miller along with military honors for Jerry will be held on July 2, 2022 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm at the Holton American Legion 9150 Holton Road Holton, MI 49425. Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in memory of Jerry.
