Jervis Frank Gritzner, age 77 of Fremont, passed away Monday, April 1, 2019 at the Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids following a short illness. Jervis was born on February 8, 1942 at Hess Lake near Grant to Charles Fredrick and Laura (Chamberlain) Gritzner II and has been a longtime resident of the Fremont area. Jervis had worked at the Newaygo County Treasurer's Office as a data entry operator for a short period of time and had been involved in Special Olympics, the Friendship Bible Program and the Empowerment Center in Fremont. Jervis enjoyed bowling playing computer games and learning new words as well as learning sign language. Jervis was a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church.
Jervis is survived by his brothers and sister, Charles "Fritz" (Yvonne) Gritzner of Brookings, South Dakota; Janalyce Taylor of Great Falls, Montana; Jeffrey (Yvonne) Gritzner of Florence, Montana; special friends and adopted family, Norman Rosema of Fremont and his children, Todd Rosema of Grant and Heather (Jose) Olivares of Grand Rapids; several nieces and nephews. Jervis was preceded in death by special friend, Donna Rosema on February 5, 2018

MEMORIAL SERVICES : Friday, April 12, 2019 at 11am at the Fremont United Methodist Church. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Memorial contributions may be made to the Fremont United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or the Fremont Friendship Bible Program in memory of Jervis.
