Jo Ann McKeown, age 84 of Hesperia and Lake City, Michigan, passed away at her home on Thursday, December 21, 2023 following a short decline in her health. Jo was born on January 20, 1939 in Detroit and raised by her parents, Fred and Grace (Coons) Phinney and later met and married Darrold McKeown on October 12, 1957 near Lake City, Michigan. Jo had lived in the Hesperia area for 20 years, moved to Lake City for the next 40 years and moved back to their original home in Hesperia in October 2023. Jo had been a bus driver for Hesperia Public Schools and later became a health care caregiver at several foster care homes until her retirement. Jo attended the Evangelical Presbyterian Church – EPC Lake City and played the piano at the Hesperia Baptist Church while living in Hesperia previously. Jo enjoyed playing the piano throughout the years and was a talented oil painting artist and taught oil painting. She had been a quilter, canned many vegetables and fruits and enjoyed the Moorestown Sunshine Club. Jo truly loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jo is survived by her husband, Darrold; her children, Guy Daniel (Beth) McKeown; Darrold "Luke" McKeown; April Joy Bush; Mark Ransom (Amy) McKeown; Jason Garrett McKeown; 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; her sister, Judy (Gordon) Lydic. Jo was preceded in death by her daughter, Jody Rae Fairchild; her daughter-in-law, Christine Elizabeth McKeown; and her sisters, Pat Phinney; Gail Wade; Jean Phinney. CELEBRTION OF LIFE SERVICE : Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel 7193 W 48th Street Fremont MI 49412 with a VISITATION from 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Time of Luncheon and Fellowship - Immediately following Celebration of Life Services (approximately 3:30pm) at the Aetna Calvary Church 3944 W. 1 Mile Road White Cloud, MI 49349.
