Joan L. Johnson, age 90 of Monument, Colorado, formerly of White Cloud, passed away Friday, October 21, 2022 at her home in Monument, Colorado. Joan was born on November 2, 1931 in Fremont to Herbert O. and Alvina (Milarch) Eggerstedt and graduated from Scottville High School. Joan met and married her true love, Gene E. Johnson, and they were married on June 17, 1955 in White Cloud. Immediately after graduating from high school, Joan began working in the medical billing department at Ludington hospital, not far from Scottville. A short period of time later, she began working at the White Agency Insurance Company in Fremont where she worked for several years until she started a long career at the Newaygo County Treasures Office, which concluded with her retirement as the Assistant County Treasurer in 1995. Joan enjoyed spending winters with Gene in Fort Myers, Florida, sewing, making and painting ceramics, reading, and enjoying what she called "liquid sunshine". Joan was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in White Cloud. Survived by her son, Kelly (& Shari) Johnson of Saratoga, California, her son Kirk (& Richelle) Johnson of Monument, Colorado, her grandson, Noah Johnson, currently attending the University of California at Davis, granddaughter, Alexa Johnson of Saratoga, California, grandson, Ehren Johnson, currently serving the U.S. Navy in Hawaii, and granddaughter, Anna Johnson, currently attending Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. A devoted aunt, she dearly loved her nieces and nephews and their families. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place in Colorado and a joint Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Joan and Gene will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church, 701 S. Evergreen, White Cloud, Michigan 49349. Interment will be in the White Cloud Cemetery. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association of America in lieu of flowers.
