Joan "Jody" J. Overley, age 81, of Newaygo, went to be with her Lord on Monday, January 30, 2012, at her home. Joan was born on March 15, 1930, in Carey, Ohio, to Cecil and Lucille (Bloom) Presler and married LaVerne Ben Overley on December 31, 1948, in Newaygo. Joan was a teachers aide at the Neway Center in Newaygo for over 20 years and loved helping students. Joan enjoyed flea markets, shopping, reading and antiques and was a member of the Grace Bible Church in Newaygo. Joan is survived by her loving husband of 63 years LaVerne Ben Overley of Newaygo; children, Elizabeth Jayne (David) Quick of Newaygo, Judith Anne (Jeff) Gillespie of Florida, Steven Eugene Overley of Muskegon, Andrew Cort (Julie) Overley of Newaygo, and Adam (Jackie) Overley of Sparta; five grandchildren, Paige, Justin, Nicole, Hannah, and Kayleigh; four great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Barbara Puff of Newaygo, Weldon (Karen) Presler of Florida, Sandra (Kenneth) Malone of Ada, Tamara (Jerry) Bronsink of Grand Rapids, Charles (Sheryl) Presler of Millbrook, and Pamela Presler of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one grandson Steven Jr. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2012, at 12 noon from the Grace Bible Church in Newaygo. There will be visitation and time to greet the family one hour prior to the service at the Church. Interment will be in Newaygo Cemetery.
