Joan R. (Peterson) Frankowski, age 80 of Newaygo, formerly of Wyoming, passed away Monday, August 15, 2011 at her home following a lingering illness. Joan was born on August 7, 1931 in Ionia to Howard W. and Ruth M. (Davis) Hill. Joan married Glenn Peterson on June 18, 1949 in Grand Rapids and Glen preceded her in death on November 15, 2000. Joan later married Raymond Frankowski on May 11, 2002 in Newaygo. Joan worked as a clerk at Meijer in Grand Rapids for several years until her retirement in 1990. Joan moved to the Newaygo area in 1985 where she enjoyed living on Emerald Lake, spending time with her grandchildren, fishing for bluegills and had enjoyed ceramics. Joan was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and homemaker. Joan is survived by her husband, Raymond of Newaygo; her children, Deanne Peterson of Visilia, CA; Brian Peterson of Kent City; Richard (Deborah) Peterson of Grand Rapids; her grandchildren, Chenan, Jacob, Jeremy, and Travis; her mother, Ruth Lapham of Charlotte; sister, Irene (Bob) Jewett of Charlotte; her brother, Mark (Robin) Lapham of Tampa, FL; many nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Edward Peterson of Coopersville; sister-in-laws, Mardella Newland of Clio; Irene Alexander of Grand Rapids. She was preceded in death by her step father, Dale Lapham and her sister, Helen Driessen. MEMORIAL SERVICES : Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 1pm at the Woodville Community Church 6206 N Pine White Cloud MI 49349 following cremation with interment in the Woodville Cemetery.
