John "Jack" Curtis Dutcher, age 77, of Hesperia passed away on December 6, 2020, at his home with his loving wife and daughters by his side after suffering from a long illness. Jack was born in Muskegon on October 30, 1943, to William and Helen (Ford) Dutcher and later married Lois Hornbrook on October 17, 2012. Jack graduated from the Hesperia Community Schools in 1963 and had worked in the maintenance department at the Hesperia Community Schools, retiring in October of 2008. Jack lived life to the fullest, enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and travel, but especially time with family and friends. Jack proudly served during the Vietnam War in the United States Army and was stationed in Panama where he trained soldiers for jungle warfare. He was a charter member of the Thomas Annis American Legion Post #411 in Hesperia, faithful member of the Hesperia-Arcana Masonic Lodge #346, and member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #4170 in White Cloud.
Jack is survived by wife, Lois; daughters, Shannan Ramsey and Stephanie (Timothy) Gustman; stepchildren, Dale (Gale) Hornbrook, Vicki (Jack) Retherford, and Jim (Lisa) Hornbrook; grandchildren, Darchan Dutcher, Teryan Dutcher, Nathan (Patrick) Gustman-Mengel, and Morgan Gustman; great-grandchildren, George Jr., Edward, Alexis, Amiah, and Hazel; sisters, Wilma Thompson, Dorothy Gomez, Mary (Tom) Sturtevant, and Paula (Russ) Dykman; step-father, Raul "Dave" (Carol) Gomez; step-grandchildren, Lori Hornbrook, Brian (Dustin) Hornbrook, Tracy (Heath) Hornbrook, Christopher (Alaina) Hornbrook, Eric (Hatasi) Hren, Jodi (Steve) Hesky, Diane Hren, and Tyler Hornbrook; step-great- grandchildren, Lauren, Nathan, Kayla, Adriana, Steven, Jenna, Easton, Ivan, Sebastian, Haven, Mia, Taviah, Kyla, and Raychil; and many special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, William Dutcher; mother, Helen Gomez; sisters and brothers, Esther (Leonard) Thompson, Shirley (Don) Dietz, Verna (Charles) Wilson, Judy Lageruist, Maurice (Inez) Dutcher, and William (Lori) Dutcher; brothers-in-law, Joe Gomez and Leroy Thompson; and son-in-law, Kevin Ramsey.
