John E. Cushman Sr. , age 76 of Fremont, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at his home.  John was born on July 7, 1947 in Ludington to Louis L. and Emilia A. (Becker) Cushman and graduated from Fremont High School in 1986.  John later married Mildred Jean Daunis in Fremont and they have been lifelong residents of the Fremont area.  John worked at Gerber Products Company in Fremont, 3rd Shift, for 35 years until his retirement.  John enjoyed plowing snow and driving his tractor; cruising the roads with his family; was a hobby farmer, enjoyed hunting and was always willing to lend a hand to family and friends.  John greatest treasurer was his love for his family.

John is survived by his wife, Mildred of Fremont; his children, Mary Frey of Twin Lake; Vonda (Jeff Galloup) Cushman of Luther; John Cushman Jr. of Fremont; his grandchildren, Blake, Travis, Hannah, Maranda, Megan and Ty; his great grandchildren, Jackson and Hudson; his brother and sisters, Ernie (Nancy) Cushman of Fremont; Bertha (Bert) Rose of Kent City; Dorothy (Art) Akins of Muskegon; several nieces and nephews.  John was preceded in death by his son, Jack Robert Cushman on April 13, 2021; his son-in-law, Brian Frey on February 21, 2023; his brother, Louis Cushman; his sister, Emilia Struble.
