John Frank Dekleva, age 73 of Fremont, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2000 at the St. Marys Hospital in Grand Rapids. He was born on January 11, 1927 in Boncarbo, Colorado and married Jo Ann Mehl on April 16, 1955 in Saginaw, Michigan. He was a graduate of the University of Denver where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting. He has been a resident of the Fremont area for the past 38 years where he worked at the Gerber Products Company in Fremont for 28 years as a Certified Public Accountant until his retirement. He was a member of the First Congregational Church United Church of Christ in Fremont; longtime member of Fremont Rotary; member of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; member of the Fremont American Legion, Laurels Post # 6898; had been active in the Fremont Public Schools and served on the Fremont School Board. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict where he served in the United States Navy. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann of Fremont; his children, John Patrick (Robin) Dekleva of Fremont; Mark Richard (Lynn Ann) Dekleva of Wilmington, Delaware; Jody Caroline (Dan) Cain of Hudsonville; 5 grandchildren; sister, Josephine (Anthony) Federizzi of Denver, Colorado; brother, Joseph (Elizabeth) Dekleva of Trinidad, Colorado; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Frances Gordon. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 1, 2000 from the First Congregational Church United Church of Christ with Rev. Frank Vietze presiding with interment in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends may consider the Fremont Area Foundation for the First Congregational Church United Church of Christ Endowment Fund.
