IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John H.
Hershberger
July 23, 1932 – January 25, 2025
John H. Hershberger, a cherished member of the White Cloud, MI community, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25th, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on July 23rd, 1932, in York Township, Indiana, John lived a life full of adventure, dedication, and love.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Betty Ellen Hershberger of White Cloud, MI. The couple married in 1951 and together built a beautiful family and life, marked by love and resilience. He is also survived by his devoted children, Donna (Brent) Williams of Las Vegas, NV, Glen (Deb) Hershberger of White Cloud, MI, and Doyal (Rosalie) Hershberger of Felton, CA. John was the proud grandfather to Chad (Andie) Hershberger, Kasey Hershberger, Vincent Hershberger, Lindsey (Michael) Hurley, Hyllery (Steven) Barnes, and Angela (Casey) Hebard. He also leaves behind six great-grandchildren and his dear sister Sara Rubenstein. Preceding John in death were his parents, C.J. and Othny Hershberger, his three brothers and two sisters.
John lived his 92 years to the fullest. He was an honest hardworking man who lived for his family. He was a devoted husband and loving father. John enjoyed numerous activities throughout the years including hunting, fishing, bowling, riding motorcycles and snowmobiles (the mean green machines). His weekends were often spent playing horseshoes, snake toss and dancing. John and Betty had a cottage on Diamond Lake where their family and friends spent numerous summers together playing games, boating, skiing, fishing, catching frogs and telling stories around the bonfire.
John worked as a carpenter, farmer/farmhand and as a truck driver. He retired from Associated Truckline 35 years ago. After retirement he found joy traveling out west with his wife. They spent several winters making new friends in Lake Havasu City, their home away from home. In recent years he spent time playing cards and dice with family and friends. He was often found enjoying the sunshine, gardening, riding his golf cart or tinkering on home projects.
He made a lasting impression on everyone he met and will be greatly missed. A service to celebrate John's remarkable life will be held at a later date this upcoming summer. Arrangements have been entrusted to Crandell Funeral Home - White Cloud Chapel.
