Jones Sr., John G. John G. Jones Sr., age 74 of Bitely, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2006 at his home following a short battle with cancer. John was born on June 23, 1932 in Kewanee, Illinois to Jimmie and Annie (Hutchins) Jones and soon moved to Peoria, Illinois where he was raised and started his lifelong profession of carpentry of which he had been a self employed carpenter until 2006 when his illness forced him to stop. He later moved from Peoria to Big Rapids, Michigan in 1972 and married Sharon Webster on September 12, 1975 in Brohman and together, John and Sharon moved to the Woodland Park area in 1991. John was a 42 year member of the Frank N. Nicol Masonic Lodge #1170 in Creve Coeur, Illinois. John enjoyed living on the lake where he fished and was the constable on the lake for several years. He was also a member of the Bitely Boys Club. John enjoyed people and was a type of person to do things right or dont do them at all. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sharon of Bitely; his children, Marla Kay (Mike) Nash of Waterloo, Iowa; John G. (Judy) Jones Jr. of Dunlap, Illinois; Becky Ann (Jim) Curtis of Stanwood; Jack (Karen) Koch of Bitely; William A. Koch of Bitely; Christine Ann (Gene) McCloud of Clarksville, Tennessee; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 23, 2006 at the Bitely Community Church with Chaplain Judy Corey of Hospice of Michigan presiding with interment in the Lilley Township Cemetery. Masonic services were held on Tuesday at the Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel. Friends may consider Hospice of Michigan for memorial contributions in memory of John.
