Koster, John Louis John Louis Koster, age 84 of Fremont, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2000 at the Spectrum Health Services downtown campus in Grand Rapids. He was born January 19, 1916 in Natrona, Pennsylvania to Thomas and Clara (Walnetski) Koster and married Mary Ann Piklor in 1951 in Chicago. He was a graduate of University of Illinois and had attended Northwestern University. He had worked as a high school science teacher and the Skil Corporation in Chicago and later worked as a production worker at the Gerber Products Company until his retirement in 1978. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the United States Air Force Signal Corps. He was happiest when he was working in his wood shop where he built clocks and furniture. Most everyone who knew him had a wood piece made by him. He was not a social person, but was dedicated to his family and enjoyed their company. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann of Fremont; his children, Kenneth Koster and special friend, Barb Sturtivant of Mt. Clemens, Michigan; Katherine Borkowski of Fremont; Clare (Dan) Parks of Rockford; 6 grandchildren, Darlene Deur; Michael Borkowski; Thomas Borkowski; Diane Borkowski; Sam Parks; Leslie Parks; 2 great grandchildren, Elizabeth Deur and Lauren Deur; mother-in-law, Mary Piklor of Hesperia; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Funeral memorial graveside services were held on Sunday, June 24, 2000, from the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Fremont.
