John Liegeois, age 82 of Hesperia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at his home. John was born on January 21, 1941 in Bernissart, Belgium to Ernest and Aline (Lietard) Liegeois. John's father passed away when John was 5 years old and John was then raised by his stepfather, Alfred Canivez. John moved to the United States at an early age and graduated from Hesperia High School and later married Bessie Wright on December 29, 1962 at Christ The King Catholic Church in Hesperia. John had been serving in the United States Air Force for 2 years prior to his marriage to Bessie and he served at various Air Force Bases throughout the United States and Europe until his honorable discharge as a Tech Sergeant in April of 1979 when he and Bessie moved back to Hesperia. John then began his second career as Farm Manager for Roossinck Orchards for another 25 years until his final retirement. John was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church in Hesperia; was a life member of the Hesperia American Legion; he had served as Commander of the VFW for 12 years; was a life member of the Retired Enlisted Association and was a member of the Knight of the Midnight Sun. John loved the Michigan outdoors and enjoyed his walks in the woods while in Germany; usually had a campfire or bon fire burning at his house but especially treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bessie of Hesperia; his children, Joseph (Joan) Liegeois of Hesperia; Elizabeth (Robert) Nelson of Muskegon; daughter-in-law, Michell Liegeois of Muskegon; his grandchildren – Tabatha (Ryan) Dubie; Christopher (Kendall) Liegeois; Desiree (Juan) Medina; Danielle (Arthur) Benedict; Natalie Liegeois; Bradley (Rachel) Nelson; Morgan (Lee) Thompson; Michael Nelson; 10 great grandchildren; his sister, Rosella Liegeois of Belgium; several neices and nephews. John was preceded in death by his son, John F. Liegeois in 2006; his sisters and brothers-in-laws and brothers and sisters-in-laws, Yvonne Lecleriq; Abel (Juienne Huick) Lecleriq; Yvonne (Olen) Syers; Jaen Marie Viviez
