John Alfred Ludy (Luty), age 94 of White Cloud, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2001 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. He was born on September 25, 1906 in the Indian Territory, now known as Hayden, Oklahoma to Samuel and Josephine (Ross) Luty. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1942 and served in the United States Cavalry for 20 years, during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He moved to White Cloud in 1960 and had been a farmer and had attended the New Bethel Baptist Church in White Cloud. He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Larry (Millicent) Justus of Suitland, Maryland; Rexa Daniel of Denver, Colorado; Estelle Kearney of Omaha, Nebraska; Byron West of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Sammy West of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Clyde West of Landsdale, Pennsylvania; Anthony West of Brookville, Maryland; his special friend, Speckles. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 7, 2001 from the White Cloud Cemetery in White Cloud, Michigan with Chaplain Judy Cory presiding. Arrangements by Crandell Funeral Home in White Cloud.
