GRAVESIDE SERVICES : Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 12:30pm at the Sherman Township Cemetery with luncheon to follow at the Sherman Township Hall. John D. Maher, age 70 of White Cloud, passed away Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. John was born on October 8, 1947 in Reed City and was adopted by Earl and Helen (Peasley) Maher. John met and married Leslie Snowden on February 26, 1982 in Mount Vernon, Washington. John and Leslie traveled between Michigan and Washington State for many years until they made White Cloud their permanent home in June 2011. John had been a heavy equipment mechanic and operator for various construction companies and trucking companies throughout the United States prior to his retirement. John enjoyed camping, traveling across the United States, drag racing in his younger years, watching western movies – especially John Wayne movies on television and liked listening to the 1950's oldies music.

John is survived by his wife, Leslie of White Cloud; his children, Helen Williams of Jensen Beach, Florida; Jeff (Brandi) Maher of Entiat, Washington; John (Robin) Maher of Caledonia, Michigan; Wendi (Paul) Dembowski of Sedro Wooley, Washington; Julie (Bill) Hoffmeister of Buckley, Washington; Jared Maher of Mount Vernon, Washington; Joanie Maher of Marysville, Washington; 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; his sisters and brothers, Diane, Lori, Don, Ron, Bonnie, Wilma, Michelle, Cheryl and Danette; his stepmother, Jeanette Babcock of White Cloud. He was preceded by his father, Robert Babcock; his mother and stepfather, Thelma (Keith) Rogers; his sister, Judy and infant sister, Linda.

VISITATION : Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 10-12pm at the Crandell Funeral Home – White Cloud Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 12pm at the Crandell Funeral Home – White Cloud Chapel. INTERMENT : Sherman Township Cemetery in the spring of 2018. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : to the John D. Maher family to assist with funeral expenses.
