John H. Patterson, age 85, of Holton, passed away at home on Monday, July 11, 2011. John was born on July 27, 1925, in Oak Park, Illinois, and served in the Merchant Marine during World War II. He retired from Automatic Spring in Grand Haven and was a member of the Muskegon Heights Eagles. John married Gerry Ann Lawrence on August 18, 1985, and attended the Holton United Methodist Church. John leaves his dearly beloved wife, Gerry Ann; 4 children, Debbie E. Rice of Bush, LA, Cathy and Rod VanNoord of Holland, MI, Sheri and Bob Kinney of North Muskegon, and Jerry John Patterson of Ketchikan, AK; 2 children by marriage, Boyd and Lou Lawrence of Pflugerville, TX, Shelly and Tim Walsman of Greensburg IN; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother Jerry and Sue Patterson of Newport Richey, FL; and a bonus daughter Joell Ackerman of Lansing, MI.. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, July 16, 2011, at the Holton United Methodist Church, 9530 Holton-Duck Lake Rd., with Pastor Jerry Selleck officiating.
