John J. Poster Jr., age 90 of Holton, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at the Trinity Health Mercy Campus in Muskegon. John was born on November 8, 1932 in Tupelo, Mississippi to John and Lillie (McCambry) Poster. John later moved to California and met and married Linda Branch on April 14, 1973 in Santa Ana, California. John moved to the Holton area in 1978 from California and started work at Bastian & Blessing in Grand Haven, Michigan and then found a longtime career at Gerber Products Company in Fremont where he worked until his retirement in 1998. John enjoyed unique cars, motorcycles, trike bikes, and snowmobiles. John enjoyed fishing and the outdoors, along with driving his vehicles. He was a faithful member of Sanctuary @ Holton Life Worship Center. John however, truly treasured the time he spent with his family and praying to his God. John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda of Holton; his children, daughter - Linnette (Thom) Rushing II of Twin Lake and their daughter Raven Rushing; daughter - Carol (Jacoby) Brooks Sr. of Casa Grande, Arizona and their children, Jacoby (Nicole) Brooks and their children, Jacoby III and Janelle; and Brittany (Brandy Ann) Brooks and their daughter, Miracle; daughter - Valery (Robert) McGee of Evanston, Illinois; son - John J. (Darlene) Poster III of Gurnee, Illinois; stepson, Anthony (Christie) Brocato of Waimanalo, Hawaii and their children, Arielle (Andrew) Castelli and Christian Brocato; stepson, Matt (Dina) Brocato of Rosemount, Illinois and their children, Lily and Jayce Brocato; his brother – Lloyd (Mattie) Poster of Verona, Mississippi; his sister, Bobbie Dale (Ozell) Kohleim of Tupelo, Mississippi; his sister, Lillie Mae (Willie) Kohleim of Tupelo, Mississippi; special niece, Sandra Smith of Decatur, Alabama. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lillie Poster and his 4 brothers, Herman Poster Sr., Robert Poster, Willie Earl Poster Sr., William Poster Sr.; his 6 sisters, Louise Poster, Evelyn Poster, Lillian Jewel Poster, Ikie Ann Poster, Blanch Dillard, and Ara Poster Armstrong. CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICES : Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 1pm at the Sanctuary @ Holton Family Life Worship Center 8473 Holton Road Holton MI 49425 with time for fellowship and remembrance with the family immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
