John E. Wells, age 89 of White Cloud, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2001 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont. He was born on June 3, 1911 in Lincoln Township to Orren Paris and Alice J. (Wiser) Wells and married Jennie Snieder on May 10, 1934 in Newaygo. Jennie preceded him in death on December 19, 1999. He had worked at the Asby Oil Company and later owned and operated his own water well drilling business for over 30 years until his retirement. He was an honorary member of the Michigan Well Drillers Association and a member of the Woodville Community Church. He is survived by his children, John O. (Mary) Wells of Fremont; Joyce G. (Larry) Patrick of Big Rapids; Janet A. (Paul) Keehl of Fremont; Jay H. (Ruth) Wells of White Cloud; 16 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; sister, Ellen (Ora) Laisure of Grant; sister-in-laws, Bonnie Wells of Fremont; Hermina Myrick of Grant; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Wells and Leon Wells. Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 27, 2001 from the Crandell Funeral Home Chapel in White Cloud with Pastor Mike McDonald of the Woodville Community Church and Pastor Foster Brummel presiding with interment in the Lincoln Township Cemetery.
