John Bub Witte Jr., age 88 of Terre Haute, Indiana and formerly of Fremont, passed away Saturday, January 24, 1998 in Fremont. He was born on December 21, 1909 in Fremont to John and Gertrude (Mast) Witte and had been a lifelong resident of the Fremont area. He married Nella Klassen on January 15, 1931 in Fremont and Nella preceded in him in death on July 28, 1983. He later married Beulah Frazier on September 22, 1984 in Muncie, Indiana. He had been a school bus supervisor for the Fremont Public Schools and was also a former partner in Witte Used Furniture and a partner in Witte Brothers Auctioneers for many years. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Fremont. He is survived by his wife, Beulah of Terre Haute, Indiana; one daughter, Phyllis J. (Richard) Crandell of Fremont; one son, Gordon (Marian) Witte of Fremont; one step daughter, Nancy (James) Torrence of Terre Haute, Indiana;five grandchildren, Lynette Suchner of Croton; Jonell Witte of Grand Rapids; Scott Crandell of Fremont; Curt Crandell of White Cloud; Julie Crandell of Douglas; two step-grandchildren, Christine and Katie Torrence of Terre Haute; six great grandchildren, Mitchell Suchner; Olivia and Zachary Crandell; Rachele, Jordan, and Calvin Crandell; one sister, Evelyn Bol of Holland; one brother, Milo (Sylva) Witte of Fremont. He was preceded in death by one son, Earl on December 29, 1988 and one brother, George Witte. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 28, 1998 from the First Christian Reformed Church in Fremont with Rev. Allen Petroelje presiding with interment in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
