Jon I. Dorwin, 84, passed away on September 25, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

Jon was much more than the dates that marked the beginning and end of his life. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. His presence made a lasting impact on the people who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Born on November 2, 1941, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Jon began his adult life serving his country in the United States Navy as a boilermaker. Following his military service, he built a career with General Motors, where his strong work ethic served him well throughout the years.

Those who knew Jon will remember his sense of humor, generosity, storytelling, strong work ethic, love for his family, and, of course, his stubbornness. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Above all, Jon loved seeing the world and experiencing everything it had to offer.

Jon was especially proud of his family. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Dorwin; his children, Larry Dorwin, Shane Dorwin, Stephanie Ridgeway, and Cory Dorwin; as well as 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by Avery and Doloris Dorwin.

While saying goodbye is incredibly difficult, our family is grateful for the memories, lessons, laughter, stories, and love Jon gave us throughout his life. He touched each of us in his own way, and the memories we made with him will remain a part of our family for generations to come.

A memorial service celebrating Jon’s life will be held on October 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Crandell Funeral Home, 1109 E. Court Street, White Cloud, Michigan.

Following the service, family and friends are invited to join us for a memorial luncheon at Everett Township Hall, 1516 E. 8th Avenue, White Cloud, Michigan.
