Obituary

Jon Philip Fox, 63 of Fremont died a few minutes past midnight early Saturday morning, April 1 at the Meijer Heart Center in Grand Rapids. Jon Fox was born in Fremont on Jan. 6, 1960, the son of Joe and Emma Fox of White Cloud. Jon was a 1978 graduate of White Cloud High School and went on to take some college classes. He worked in real estate sales with Coldwell Banker and Century 21. He previously owned Fox's Sporting Goods in Fremont and the Fox Family Diner, also in downtown Fremont. He was an avid and accomplished hunter, fisherman, competitive shooter and chef who was known for his creative use of the food he found while foraging in nature. He taught hunter safety locally for more than 30 years, volunteered with PRIDE of Newaygo County, and fed hundreds of youngsters at Christian camps. He attended Inspire Church in Fremont and was formerly a member of the Holton United Methodist Church. He is survived by his son Nick and his wife Kayla Fox of Fremont, daughter Dawn and her husband Jeff Goodwin of Houghton Lake, and daughter Jesse Fox of Waxahachie, Texas; seven grandchildren; sister Mary Jo Brimmer of Engadine, Mich., sister Grace (Paul) Leroy of Lake City and brother Joe (Sherry) Fox of White Cloud; and several nieces and nephews. Jon was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers Jack and Jim Fox. Funeral services and a celebration of life are being planned for a later date.
