Joseph C. Denney, age 83 of Fremont, passed away Friday, October 21, 2011 at his home. Joe was born on May 11, 1928 in Grandview, Missouri to Charles E. and Grace (Weaver) Denney and later moved to the Fremont area where he has been a longtime resident. Joe met and married Ethel Shively on June 12, 1948 in Fremont and Ethel preceded him in death on May 5, 2002. Joe had worked in the warehouse at Gerber Products in Fremont until his retirement and after retirement became a greeter at Walmart in Fremont for another 12 years. Joe attended the New Life Assembly of God Church in White Cloud and enjoyed reading his Bible and conducting Bible Studies with friends. Joe was always doing for others in need and enjoyed running his own food pantry out of his home for people in need. Joe is survived by his sons, Joseph C. (Peggy) Denney of Newaygo; Bernie (Lissa) Denney of Fremont; 6 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marie Adell Denney and by his brothers and sisters. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Life Assembly of God Church in White Cloud following cremation with interment in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont.
