Joseph F. Pinnick, age 91 of Muskegon, formerly of Fremont, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015 at the Great Lakes Specialty Hospital in Muskegon following a short illness. Joe was born on May 25, 1923 in San Francisco, California to Joseph A. and Allice E. (Helsing) Pinnick and married Siria Pieri on February 15, 1947 in San Francisco. Joe served in the United States Army during World War II and later served in the United States Naval Reserve during the Korean War. Joe graduated from University of California, Berkley with a Bachelors of Science with emphasis in chemistry and later received his MBA from the Western Michigan University. Joe started work at the Gerber Products Company in Oakland, California and in 1954, was transferred to the Fremont Plant of Gerber Products Company where he worked until 1988 at which time Joe retired as the Director of Medical Services. Throughout his lifetime, Joe enjoyed traveling, golfing, downhill and cross country skiing, dancing and spending time with his family. Joe was also an active supporter of the arts in Fremont and spent time assisting with the development of the Dogwood Performing Arts Center in Fremont. Joe is survived by his wife of 68 years, Siria of Muskegon; his children, Cristine (Tom) Holstrom of Spring Lake; Kathleen (Jerry) Bartholomew of Broadview Heights, Ohio; Thomas Pinnick of Fremont; 8 grandchildren, Jennifer (Terrence) Jackson; Sarah (Luke) Sitzer; Abigail Holstrom; John (Elise) Bartholomew; Beth (Tom) Monaweck; Joe Bartholomew; Katie (Dave) Kiss; Matthew Fletcher; his great grandchildren, Brynn Jackson; Taryn Jackson; Paige Sitzer. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Decker in 1986 and by his 2 sisters. A time of gathering to celebrate Joe with food, fellowship, family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. at Waters Edge Golf Club Restaurant in Fremont. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the Fremont Area Community Foundation for the Dogwood Center for Performing Arts, Fremont Area Community Foundation for the NCCA-Arts Place, or the Fremont Area District Library for memorial contributions in memory of Joe.
