Joyce E. Bristol, age 94 of South Haven, Michigan, formerly of Fremont, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the Bronson South Haven Hospital. Joyce was born on August 2, 1926 the only child of Mildred K. (Wiedenbeck) and Donald Deisch in Three Rivers, Michigan. Joyce graduated from Three Rivers High School as valedictorian in 1944 and later graduated from Michigan State University with honors in 1948 with a degree in math and music. Joyce married Bob Bristol on December 26, 1948 in Three Rivers and Bob preceded her in death on August 21, 2014. Joyce started teaching in the Mason School District until 1950 when she and Bob moved to Kalamazoo. Joyce and Bob later moved to Fremont in 1960 where she started teaching with the Fremont Public Schools where she taught 7th and 8th grade math for 27 years until her retirement in 1987. After their retirement, both Joyce and Bob enjoyed traveling and spent their winters in Perdido Key, Florida. Eventually, Joyce and Bob moved back to Midland until Bob passed away in 2014 and then Joyce moved to South Haven to be close to her daughter and son-in-law, Kerry and Fred Thomas. Joyce is survived by her daughter, Kerry Bristol (Fred Carl) Thomas of South Haven, Michigan, her grandchildren and great grandchildren - Gunnar-Wills Bristol (Catherine) Martin and their children, Violet and Zinnia Martin; Skye-Kezian Evaleigh (Ethan) Felsing; Kaleigh Rae (John) Cope and their son, Denver Johnson; Koltar-Ruark Bristol (Deanna) Martin and their son, Ronan Martin; Chelsea Paige (Micah) Dingman and their children, Silas and Jax Dingman; Rane-Mariah Gabriel (fiancé, Marcus) Martin; Huntar-Teke Samoyyah (Rachael) Martin. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Robert and by her daughter, Shelly Bristol Martin in 2002. Following Joyce's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held in August at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel.
