Joyce M. (Mueller) Hill, age 80 of Fremont and formerly of Muskegon, passed away Monday, July 15, 2019 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. Joyce was born on January 16 1939 in Muskegon to Owen and Ruby (Akom) Nelson and graduated from Muskegon High School. Joyce later graduated from Hackley School of Nursing in 1960 and started work in the oncology department and later became the Director of Cancer Services at Hackley Hospital and retired as the Director of Cancer Services at Gerber Memorial Hospital in Fremont. Joyce married Jack Mueller Sr. on September 30, 1961 and Jack preceded her in death in 1989. She later married Orien Hill on September 20, 1997 in Fremont. Joyce enjoyed her dogs and cat and loved flower gardening, and was truly dedicated to her nursing career throughout her life. After retirement, Joyce treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joyce was a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church. Joyce is survived by her husband, Orien of Fremont; her sons, Jack (Becki) Mueller Jr. of Muskegon; Jim (Marnie) Mueller of Muskegon; step daughters, Monica (Jody) Postema of Fremont; Brenda (Mike) Smith of Grand Haven; her grandchildren and great grandchildren – Casey Mueller; Tripp (fiancé Jordan Guikema) Mueller; Erik (Tricia) Mueller and their son, Beckett Mueller; Spencer Mueller; Sophia Mueller; Stone Smith; Rockne Smith; Kristina (Randy) Shanks; Nichole Postema; Meagan Postema; Melanie (Craig) Baham and their daughters, Grace & Caroline Baham; her brother, Dave Nelson of Muskegon; nephews, Brandon (Heather) Nelson and Nick (Jessica) Nelson.
