Juan C. "John" Ortiz, age 72 of White Cloud, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2000 at Hackley Hospital in Muskegon. He was born on July 22, 1928 in Mercedes, Texas to Brautia Ortiz and Juana (Consino) Ortiz. He came to White Cloud in 1950. He was married to Margaret McClain (Crofoot) in White Cloud on June 3, 1980. John was a veteran of WWII serving in the U. S. Marines, active in the Newaygo V. F. W. Sportsmans Post #4249, member of the Holton American Legion, member of the White Cloud Eagles #4170, a coach and umpire of the White Cloud Little League for over 25 yrs. and was retired from the White Cloud Foundry. He is survived by his loving wife Margaret of White Cloud; step-children Betty (Wayne) Gustman, Marian Price, Rose Hall all of White Cloud, Carolyn (Jr.) Hess of Mountain View, Arkansas; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister Rafaela Martinez of LaHilla, Texas; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Cathy Lee in 1986. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 5, 2000 from the Crandell Funeral Home Chapel in White Cloud with military services under the direction of the Newaygo V. F. W.
