Julia Timmer VanVoorthuysen Julia J. Timmer VanVoorthuysen, age 92, of Holland formerly of Fremont, went home to join her Lord on July 20, 2005. She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Andrew VanVoorthuysen; her sister and brother-in-law, Greta and Albert Zagers; brother-in-law, Herm Deiters; and her nephew, Paul Deiters. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her sister, Helene Deiters; brother-in-law, Ray VanVoorthuysen (Catherine); nephew, John Deiters (Karen); and nieces Joan Hadersbeck, Julie Abbasse (Albert), and Janet Dykema (Michael); along with several great-nieces and nephews. Julia was an educator for more than 40 years. Her teaching career began in Fremont and took her to several school districts in Western Michigan. In 1958, she moved to Grand Rapids to become the Elementary Coordinator for Godwin Public Schools. At the time of her retirement she was an Assistant Superintendent in charge of curriculum. A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 23, 2005, at Crandell Funeral Homes-Fremont Chapel. For a more lasting memorial please consider the Hospice of Holland or World Vision.
