Obituary

Kansas Kathryn Rossett, age 65, of Newaygo passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at her home. Kansas was born on October 18, 1956, in Grand Rapids to David Edward and Joan Patricia (Favreau) Block Sr. and later married Gary Phelps Rossett Jr.. She became a nurse after going back to college and getting her degree. Her coworkers loved her personality and will miss working with her greatly. Kansas loved to travel and enjoy new experiences, from riding motorcycles to zip lining to a day at the beach, she was never afraid to take on something new. She always had words of wisdom and approached every situation with optimism and grace. She had a one in a million personality and always had a smile for everyone. Kansas was a beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved spending time with her family and was proud of her heritage and family legacy. Kansas is survived by her husband, Gary; children, Jennifer (Darryl) Klok of Kentwood and Timothy (Tami) Brander of Caledonia; step-children, Melonie (Kevin) Ressler of White Cloud, Gary P. Rossett III of Florida, and Steven Rossett of Newaygo; grandchildren, Gage (Nicole) Klok and their children Gunnar, Grayson, and Levi, Jacob (Paige) Klok, Katherin Klok, Corey Cooke, David (Micquaya)Block and their children Midge, David, Atticus, Mortdecai, and Preacher, Jay-Jay Brander, Allen Brander, Elizabeth (Myron) Toppel and their children Stephan, Michael, Geneva, and Mischa, Shawna Botsford and her children Annabel and Charles, Antonio Ribbens, Zane Rossett, Logan Rossett; sisters, Elizabeth Whitehead of Cedar Springs and Toni (Jeff) Block of Murfreesboro, TN; step-siblings, Cherie (Tom) Vet, Tim Whisenant, and Jim Whisenant; nieces and nephews, Daphne (Jason) Fitzpatrick, Zachary (Kate) Heth, Cassandra Heth, Nathan Norris, Spencer Norris, and Abby Norris; aunt Patricia (Jim) VandenBerg and their children Sue and Karla VandenBerg; and special friend Renea Spruitt. Kansas was preceded in death by her father, David Block Sr.; mother, Joan Favreau, brother, David Block Jr., and husband, Gordon Williams. She also leaves behind many cousins and friends. A Celebration of Life Service for Kansas will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the Family of God Community Church (90 Quarterline Street Newaygo, Michigan 49337).
