Karen Dee Dickinson, age 67 of White Cloud, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. Karen was born on September 23, 1946 in Detroit to Edward C. and Charlene W. (Matthews) Allen and moved to the Newaygo County area in 1970 from Jackson. Karen met and married James Dickinson on June 5, 2001 in Ionia. Karen had been a lab technician at the Gerber Products Company in Fremont from 1985 until her retirement in 2010. Karen had enjoyed reading, bowling, crossword puzzles, golfing, visiting with friends and was a member of the Hesperia United Methodist Church. Karen was a former member of the Fremont Jaycees where she had served as President and also served as a District VP with the Michigan Jaycees. Karen is survived by her loving husband, James of White Cloud; her children, Benjamin Scott (Connie) Mendoza of Northville, Michigan; Dawn (Brian Yurewicz) Mendoza-Yurewicz of Hopkinton, Massachusetts; her step children, Amy (Michael) Stump of Rockford; Kevin (Daniel Bready) Dickinson of Saranac Lake, New York; her grandchildren, David, Evan, Celia; step grandchildren, Camden and Hudson; her brother, Bruce (Brenda) Allen of Accokeek, Maryland. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 11am at the Hesperia United Methodist Church in Hesperia with Pastor Paul Hane presiding with interment in the Maple Grove Cemetery following cremation. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the Hesperia United Methodist Church or Youth Haven Ranch for memorial contributions in memory of Karen.
