Featherstone, Karen L. Karen, L. Featherstone, age 72 of Fremont, went home to the arms of her savior on Monday, December 25, 2006. Karen was born on December 18, 1934 in Moline, Illinois to Curtis Frederick and Celia Lomedia (Martis) Schubert and married Neil J. Featherstone on June 6, 1957in Silvis, Illinois She graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1956 and received her Masters Degree from Western Michigan University in 1972. Karen enjoyed teaching kindergarten and pre-kindergarten for the Fremont Public Schools for 25 years and also taught 2nd grade in Roxana, Illinois for 1 year and Evanston, Illinois for 2 years. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fremont where she had served on the Christian Education Committee and Board of Deacons and had been President of the Hospital Service League. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Neil; 3 sons and their families, Neil James (Anne) and sons, Jacob Curtis & Bennett Featherstone of Fremont, MI; William Curtis (Theresa) and sons, Daniel Vernon & Austin William Featherstone of Rochester Hills, Michigan; Donald William (Katherine) and daughter, Sophia Schubert Featherstone of Prestwood, United Kingdom; her sisters, Kathleen Schubert of Godfrey, Illinois; Patricia Herr of Tucson, Arizona; sister-in-law and neice, Betty & Brenda Leake of Bethalto, Illinois; several nieces, nephews and their families, Andrea (Mike) Boucher, Mariah Mylnarek, Sierra Boucher and Tyler Boucher of Kalamazoo; Teresa (Les) Barrett, Patrick Barrett, Taylor Barrett of Carmel, Indiana; Joy Ellen (David) Herr-Cardillo, Starr Cardillo, Brooke Cardillo, Hope Cardillo of Tucson, Arizona; Robert (Jackie) Herr, Allie Herr, Sarah Herr, Cody Herr, Emilie Herr of Schoolcraft.. Funeral services were held on Friday, December 29, 2006 from the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fremont with Rev. Ray Dekker presiding.
