Obituary

Karen Marie (Lindsey) Dickinson, age 84, went home to be with her Lord early Saturday, February 4, 2023. Born Sept 25, 1938 in Toledo Ohio, to Robert Abiah Lindsey and Fern Louise (Lewis) Lindsey. She moved at a young age to Fremont Michigan and graduated Fremont High School in 1956. After graduating, Karen attended cosmetology school in Grand Rapids and became a licensed beautician. She married George Dickinson, of White Cloud, on June 21, 1958. Together they moved to Lincoln Township where she was a housewife and mother to four sons. Karen was always active in her community. She was Deputy Township Treasurer for Lincoln Township, she worked as a teacher's aide in local Fremont elementary schools, she "did Hair" out of her home kitchen, she worked at a local video store, and volunteered at the Clothing Closet and Library in White Cloud. Karen was a very active member of Farm Bureau and volunteered with the Michigan State Extension and yearly Newaygo County Fair. Karen was an active founding member of the Country Bible Church. She enjoyed attending concerts and shows and loved watching and feeding the birds. Karen was also an avid traveler having toured both around the country as well multiple trips to Europe. She enjoyed traveling both as tourist and as a tour escort. Karen loved baking and making family dinners. She was an avid subsistence gardener and enjoyed canning and putting up all the food grown. During haying and deer hunting seasons everyone knew they were welcome to stop in for a hot meal and a good chat. She also enjoyed baking cinnamon rolls and delivering those treats to the local Sheriff's Office. She is survived by her husband, George; her sons, Tige William of White Cloud, David Alan (Wanda) of White Cloud, and Phillip George (Andrea) of Waldorf, Maryland. Also important to her were her grandchildren; SCPO Samuel Dickinson (Bethany) of Joint Base Charleston, SC, Tyler (Jamie) Dickinson of Allendale, MI, Michelle (Zach) Kamphorst of Fremont, Megan (Jaden) Sella of Fremont; and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings, Lora Mae Brazee of Lansing, Leslie Lindsey of Fremont, and Janet Dekryger of Grand Rapids; and sister-in-law Elaine Dickinson of Hesperia. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Robert John Dickinson of Fremont, MI. Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at the Country Bible Church with Pastor Len Lason officiating. There will be visitation prior to the service at the Church starting at 11AM. Interment will be in Lincoln Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Country Bible Church.
