Karen L. Rumsey, age 67 of Hesperia, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 2, 2009 in Arizona. Karen was born on September 15, 1941 in Muskegon to Samuel and Mabel (Dipple) Wildfong. Karen graduated from Fremont High School and met and later married Bill Rumsey Sr. on August 20, 1960 in Hesperia. Karen has been a lifelong resident of the Hesperia area where she had been a homemaker while her children were growing up. With her husband, Bill, the owned and operated Hesperia Bait Shop in Hesperia and then started work as a secretary at the State Farm Insurance Offices in Hesperia where she worked for 20 years until her retirement. Karen enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting, playing cards, camping in Pentwater and cherished spending time with her grandchildren. Karen and Bill have spent their winters in Apache Junction, Arizona for the past 6 years. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Bill of Hesperia; her children, Billy (Toni) Rumsey Jr. of Hesperia; Michael Scott (Theresa) Rumsey of Hesperia; Robin Herin of Knoxville, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Lisa (Shawn) Montague; Michael Rumsey; Bryce Herin; Trent Herin; Claire Rumsey; Isabelle Rumsey; her brothers and sisters, Robert (Judy) Wildfong of Fremont; Richard (Janet) Wildfong of Fruitport; Larry (Della) Wildfong of Cosa Grande, Arizona; Terry (Patricia) Wildfong of Whitehall; Eileen (Craig) Homan of Salem, South Carolina; Denise Wildfong of Manton, Michigan; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; special friends, Billie & Andy Patrick of Hesperia; Jo Konrady of Apache Junction, Arizona. VISITATION : Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Friday at 11am at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. INTERMENT : West Hesperia Cemetery.
