Karlene Ann Saum, age 78, of Fremont passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at her home. Karlene was born on March 30, 1938, in Fremont to Karl E. and June Gretchen (Henderson) Odell and married Jacob John Saum on June 14, 1958, in Fremont. Karlene was a graduate of Fremont High School as well as the Muskegon Community College Business School. She had worked for the State of Michigan in the Merchant Services Bureau, Gerber Products Company in the IBM Department, Consumers Power Company as an Administrative Assistant, and at Bills Shop and Save in the Deli. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and traveling with her husband. Karlene was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Fremont and St. Andrews Catholic Church in Grand Rapids. Karlene is survived by her husband, Jacob J. Saum of Fremont; granddaughter, Shannon Saum; sisters-in-law, Carol (Raymond) Dull of Spring Lake and Marie Oppenheimer of California. She was preceded by her son, Timothy Saum. There will be a graveside service for Karlene at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Fremont on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at 10 AM.
