Obituary

Karolyn K. Rollenhagen, age 81 of Muskegon formerly of Holton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence in Muskegon. Karolyn was born on March 21, 1939 in Muskegon to Robert Ellwood and Evelyn Mae (Parker) Kempf and graduated from Holton High School in 1957. Karolyn married Robert D. Rollenhagen on August 4, 1962 at the Holton United Methodist Church and Robert preceded her in death on May 25, 2019. Karolyn had been a homemaker was the wife and mother to a military family. She moved with Robert to different military bases including Kansas, Germany and Virginia throughout Robert's military career in the United States Army until Robert's discharge when they moved back to Holton. Karolyn then began her 2nd career where she worked at Howmet in Whitehall in the wax department until her retirement in 1999 after more than 20 years. Karolyn has been a longtime resident of the Holton area where she was an active member of the Holton United Methodist Church and had been a volunteer for many activities. She also had been active in various civic organizations in the Holton area and enjoyed traveling. Karolyn's passion in life however, was her family – her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchild. Karolyn is survived by her children, Kevin (Wallace Ngai) Rollenhagen of Hong Kong; Terry (Scott) Perry of Whitehall; her grandchildren and great grandchild, Jordan (Nicholas) Bowne and their daughter, Remi Charlotte Bowne; Heather (Christopher) Moon; Bryce A. Perry; her sister, Mary Ellen Klomp of Fremont; her brother, Ronald (Jolynn) Kempf of Fremont. Karolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Rollenhagen, her brother, Larry Kempf and brother-in-law, Jack Klomp. VISITATION : Tuesday, February 9, 2021 from 10am – 12pm at the Holton United Methodist Church 9530 Holton-Duck Lake Rd, Holton, MI 49425. MEMORIAL SERVICES : Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at 12pm at the Holton United Methodist Church. INTERMENT: Oakwood Cemetery in Holton in the summer of 2021. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Holton United Methodist Church Youth Group either at the funeral or online at church web page. NOTE : during the visitation, a limited number of people will be permitted into the church for visitation and friends will need to rotate in and out to maintain a safe environment. Face coverings will be required during the visitation and funeral services. Family members and friends not able to attend the services may also watch the funeral services via the Holton United Methodist Church Livestream link at www.holtonumc.net and then click on the livestream services tab on the day of the services for Karolyn.
