Nay, Kathleen M. Kathy Kathleen M. Kathy Nay, age 72 of Newaygo, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday evening at her home. Kathy was born on Feb. 2, 1934 in Plainwell, Michigan to William H. and Catherine (VanHaften) DeHaven and later married James A. Nay in May 1978 in White Cloud. Jim preceded her in death in 1998. Kathy had been a 2nd grade school teacher for the White Cloud Public Schools from 1969 until 1981 until her retirement. Kathy was an active member of the Big Prairie Community Church, enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and enjoyed being a Detroit Pistons fan. She is survived by her children, Stephen Michael (Renko) Barton of Byron Center; Jon (Heather) Barton of San Antonio, Texas; her grandsons, Robert, Jacob, Chris Barton; her former husband, Charles Barton; her sisters, Dorothy Beattie of Otsego; Betty (Paul) Stewart of Gulliver, Michigan; Nancy Thompson of Florida; special friends, Al Zech and Elsie McKee both of Newaygo. Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 23, 2006 from the Big Prairie Community Church with Rev. Arnold Guikema presiding with interment in the Croton Township Cemetery.
